Swahili, Sail, Swim, Surf and Sun....

The three years I lived in Kenya I learned that all colors match.

Indian Ocean

It was also where I discovered the beauty of swimming in the Indian Ocean. Of sailing deep into horizon into the often still shallow waters seemingly miles from shore.

In Kenya I fell in love with the Kanga and Kitenge. As well as the Sari. It renewed my love of the Kimono...cotton, silk...colorful.

Idia'Dega Organic Cotton tank tops with Vintage Kangas (Kangas used in bracelets).

Inspired by that time abroad and dreams of more travels, I created Friendship bracelets made with the recycled materials I cannot even bring myself to throw away, not even the smallest scrap. These fabrics come from Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Japan and India.

Each bracelet is handmade by me. http://www.etsy.com/shop/IdiaDega?ref=seller_info

BRACELETS

So far these bracelets have swam in the Atlantic Ocean, Mediterranean Sea, Long Island Bay, Minnewaska Lake and a fresh water pool in New England.
